The Chasewater Railway operates heritage steam and diesel trains on Sundays and Bank Holiday Mondays throughout the year, most Saturdays and certain weekdays throughout the summer. It is located in Chasewater Country Park, just off the southbound A5 at Brownhills West and the Railway is conveniently placed for visitors from every part of the country.

The Railway is rapidly gaining recognition as one of the major visitor attractions within the Walsall, Lichfield & Cannock areas. With its policy of low-cost fares and membership fees, it offers excellent value for money for railway enthusiasts and other visitors alike. The Railway operates passenger trains from its headquarters at Brownhills West to Chasetown, with intermediate stations at Norton Lakeside and Chasewater Heaths. A round trip of nearly 4 miles takes about 45 minutes. Day Rover tickets offer unlimited travel on all trains operating on the day of issue.

All of the trains, stations and other facilities (including the refreshment rooms and museum) are accessible for visitors with mobility difficulties.

Directions by Road The Railway’s headquarters at Brownhills West Station are situated in Chasewater Country Park, Brownhills, near Walsall.

The main entrance to the park is Pool Road, a slip road leading off the southbound A5 (Watling Street) just south of its junction with the A452 (Chester Road). Brown tourism direction signs are provided on the northbound and southbound carriageways of the A5 in the vicinity of the park.

If travelling along the A452 (Chester Road) from Walsall/Brownhills, turn right on to the southbound A5 at the “Rising Sun” Island and follow the brown tourism direction signs on the A5.

Following the signs, turn left into the park immediately after passing over the M6 Toll Road. Continue through the park until reaching Brownhills West Station.

Directions by Public Transport By Train
The closest mainline station with a decent connecting bus service is Walsall. For Full Train timetable information please use the National Rail website.

By Bus
Most of the suitable bus services terminate at Brownhills West (Rising Sun Island), which is the junction of the A5 (Watling Street) and the A452 (Chester Road). The “Crown” Public House is also located at the Island.

Alight at the Rising Sun Island. Proceed along Wilkin Road (a minor road leading directly off the Island, on the side nearer to the Crown PH). At the end of Wilkin Road, turn left into Hednesford Road.

Cross to the opposite pavement and almost immediately follow a new footpath, alongside Poole Crescent, into Chasewater Country Park. This footpath crosses over the new M6 Toll Road and the station complex is clearly evident from the footbridge, on the left hand side. Walking time approx. 15 minutes.

For Full bus timetable information please use the Travel Line website.
