Barry Tourist Railway
In 1994 the Welsh Development Agency and the Vale of Glamorgan Council began a process of developing a tourist railway in Barry. By this time only fragments of the old Barry Railway Company infrastructure remained, but what did remain was saved and elements of what was missing were put back.
The heritage line open in 1996 and was operated by the Vale of Glamorgan Railway Company Ltd as the 'Barry Island Railway' until the end of 2008. A new 10-year lease was awarded to 'Cambrian Transport' in 2009, who renamed the line as the Barry Tourist Railway and have begun the process of bringing the Centre back into full operational condition.
