Western Junction station is situated to the south of Launceston, close to the regions Airport. It is built within a triangle that allows movement between Launceston and Burnie/Hobart. A Launceston bound log train is seen passing through the station on the northern loop, from the Burnie/Mole Creek direction, on September 17th, 1974 hauled by ZA Class, no. ZA3.
